Free YouTube / Video QR Code Generator

Link a scan straight to a YouTube video, or any other publicly hosted video, instead of writing out a URL.

Create your YouTube / Video QR Code

Works with YouTube, Vimeo, or any other public video link.

Colors

PNG, JPG, or WebP. Max 2 MB.
Advanced customization

Style

Keep sufficient whitespace around the QR code for reliable scanning.

Higher error correction can help when a QR code is partially obscured, but it produces a denser pattern.

Download

Test your QR code before printing or publishing it. Scan it with your phone to confirm it opens the correct destination.

QR information is processed locally in your browser and isn't uploaded to ClearQR's servers.

A video QR code is a shortcut past typing out a long, easy-to-mistype video URL. Scan it, and the video opens directly, whether that's a product demo, a tutorial, or a testimonial.

It's built for YouTube links specifically, but works with any public video URL: Vimeo, a hosted MP4 file, or another platform's share link.

How to create a YouTube / Video QR Code

  1. Copy the video's share link from YouTube or another platform.
  2. Paste it into the field above.
  3. Style the code to match your packaging or print materials.
  4. Download and add it wherever someone would want to watch: packaging, a manual, a poster.

Customizing your QR code

A direct link to the specific video works better than a channel link if you want people to land on that exact content. If the video is unlisted or private, make sure it's set to at least "unlisted" (viewable via link) rather than "private," or scanners won't be able to open it.

Where to use a YouTube / Video QR Code

Testing your QR code

Before printing or publishing any QR code, test it yourself: scan it with your phone's camera from a normal viewing distance and confirm it opens the destination you intended. If you're printing it small or on a textured surface, test that exact size and material. A code that scans easily on a screen can struggle once it's shrunk onto a napkin or embossed on packaging.

Static QR codes, explained

ClearQR creates static QR codes. The information you enter (a URL, a phone number, contact details) is encoded directly into the QR code's pattern, so the generated code doesn't depend on ClearQR's servers to keep working.

The destination itself, though, still needs to remain available: if you delete the page a QR code points to, the code will still scan, but visitors will land on a dead link. If you need to change the destination later, create a new QR code; a static code can't be redirected after it's printed.

Privacy

QR information is processed locally in your browser and isn't uploaded to ClearQR's servers, including any logo image you upload. ClearQR does not currently use analytics or cookies.

Frequently asked questions

Does this only work with YouTube?

No. It's built with YouTube in mind, but works with any public video URL, including Vimeo or a direct link to a hosted video file.

Does the video need to be public?

It needs to be viewable by anyone with the link, at minimum. A private video will block scanners from viewing it, even with a valid QR code.

Can I link to a specific timestamp?

Yes, if your video URL includes a timestamp parameter (like YouTube's "&t=" links), paste the full URL with that parameter included and it'll be encoded as-is.

Do I need to keep ClearQR open for the code to keep working?

ClearQR creates static QR codes. The information you enter (a URL, a phone number, contact details) is encoded directly into the QR code's pattern, so the generated code doesn't depend on ClearQR's servers to keep working. The destination itself, though, still needs to remain available: if you delete the page a QR code points to, the code will still scan, but visitors will land on a dead link. If you need to change the destination later, create a new QR code; a static code can't be redirected after it's printed.
